Something Witty

Hiatus

We interrupt this program for an "Intermission"..

I probably won't have any time to be updating this blog during the Christmas push; my life being busy even before the push started. So don't count on anything new here for quite some time.

I will try to at least put up a short note every once in awhile though.

Cheers all!!

And so this is Christmas...

And so this is Christmas...

People seemed to like this one more than "Christmas Ball".
I don't really know why.

But enjoy!

Christmas Ball

Christmas Ball

This would have been one of my favorite shots if it wasn't for a few minor discrepancies. (eg. The red strings holding the balls, and a spot, or a dirty lens, on the wall)
But I like the overall feel.

Photoless

I am a bad blogger, and an even worse photographer. Sad but true.

Last night some of us went over to the Mamangaba Home (Bumblebee Home) to see Fifi back from the BAM II. I took my camera, and left it in the corner when I went to go say hi to everyone, and forgot it there. (I almost forgot it on my way to the car)

I was quite pleasantly surprised when walking in the front door, to see Sara. I hadn't seen her since the beginning of the year.

We all talked for quite some time, then watched a movie.

For a brief moment Mike came to drop off someone, and we had a little ex-home reunion. Quite special. It was well worth it!! It made my week if not month!

Canz

Yes, it is another Nellie post.

I decided to tease her by sending her this:

I know, it is a lousy photo, but still. She nearly killed me until I promised I would send her the DVD. (Aren't I nice?)
All I need is her address, and David Mageropolis as well, since I promised him as well that I would send a DVD when it came out. (That was last year at the BAM. Yes it took them THAT long to make it)

Christmas preparations continue in full swing, as all the 'kids' make Christmas cards for our contacts. I have to get photos for all of you. But that is material for another post, so I won't spoil the fun. :D

PS. Love you Nellie!!! Even though you don't read this! :P
Look at the bright side of all of this... At least now you don't have to wait in the cold at 1 in the morning for our home to not pick us up on our way back from the BAM. (Ah, the good old days...)

Christmas is in the Air...

Last night since we were so few people home meeting was canceled. But a dear soul had the idea of getting the whole home together and putting up the Christmas decorations that had just been brought down from the attic instead. Of course drinks were offered as bribes.

So at 9:30, after prayer vigil, the living room erupted into a flurry of activity. A group of people setting up the Christmas tree in the corner, another small group, talking about making Christmas cards for our contacts, (which we will be doing tonight) another batch of people arguing about how many wreaths are needed inside the house, and of course I was running around the living room trying to look as busy as possible. (Kind of like how we used to do for JJTs in the old combos. Just grab a broom or dustpan and walk around with a real intent look on your face. Recipe for success)

But soon someone started putting on some old Christmas songs, (not that I was complaining; everyone else was) I mentioned that I had some new songs for people to listen to. OK fine! I told everyone that I had new songs for people to listen to. So after running around for a battery for someone else's MP3 player, and borrowing another's USB cable, I finally loaded up some songs, and took it to the living room.

So while the sub woofer pumped out Trans-Siberian Orchestra, I took it upon myself to decorate the Christmas tree with my new 7 year old roommate.
We did a good job by the way.

Started out with the lights, went to the balls, and got forced to add ribbons to it. I managed to stave off the ugly presents hanging, as well as all manner of old decorations finding their way on the tree. (My preciousss) Some people wanted the little kids to decorate it because it would look cute. Hmpf!!!

It always annoyed me, when all the decorations were on the front of the tree, and the back was bare, or the same with the lights, but even though the tree isn't 'loaded' with decorations, (yet) I still like it. It needs a few touch-ups, but overall I like what I see.

No photo's yet, sorry! I lent my camera to my dad who got invited last minute to be photographer for the BAM II, and his camera burnt out. I am hoping and praying that it won't get ruined with him. Since it took me 3 years to save up for it. I am missing it already. *sniff* My preciousss.

I am praying that it will come back without any scratches. :D

PS. Just so you can appreciate the amount of work put into the cover here is the modified version of the letter in the previous post. It is 50% of the original size since 100% is 3.5 megs.

BAM Blues

While everyone (here in Brazil at least) is off to the BAM II (Brazil Activated Meetings II) I am here stuck at home.

It isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Perhaps I am finally 'growing up'? Nah. Not a chance.

I did work for the BAM though. On Saturday I was asked if I could help lay-out the classes for the BAM II. (And they had to be printed by Monday to get taken to the BAM II) So I spent a very stressful afternoon and it even bled over into the next day. (Yes it was my W&R)

Small previews of them are as follows:

Activated Class:
I took this picture! YAY! I finally used my camera for something truly useful. Heh.
I had to do some color correction on this photo since it was taken at night, since the pretty lady with the hands (and nails) was going out.
(PS. Anyone recognize any difference on the mag? :D)

Faith Class:
General cookie cutter style. All of the material used for the cover was already done, so this was a slap together.
It also set the standard since the top section was already a banner done by some young people in the north of Brazil. (Yes I was impressed)
No idea on to whom goes the glory on the wheelbarrow, but I know it wasn't the banner folks.

Closing Class:
Not sure if I can give away the thunder in case any other area hasn't had their activated meetings yet.
I don't want to get into any sort of trouble for that. Thank you very much.
But just so that you can appreciate the work put into it, here is the original image, found on Google Images.
(PS. All of these images were printed on A5. (GN size)

The fourth one didn't make it on time for printing, but there is a small chance that they will send me it to rush a layout for them to print it on their laser at the BAM II.

* * *

So our home is empty, but not just because of the BAM II, only 2 people from our home went. My mom, (FED RBC) and John C. (Musician) But the home is empty because of some other people traveling. So your dish slot comes around a lot more frequently, but to compensate, dishes are so much easier with 6 people (Total) gone.

We watched Superman Returns on Sunday night. I had been wanting to watch it for quite some time, and had refused to watch a funky camcorder cinema taping. (You know those ones where you see people's heads get up and start walking, and see popcorn flying everywhere) It was worth holding out. I enjoyed it.

Maybe because I started working in the studio, but I noticed Superman's voice is always at that perfect pitch, perfectly equalized, so on and so forth, no matter the circumstances. Even when he is standing very far away, there is no distortion or anything.

But then again, I noticed the same thing on Jornal Nacional, the largest TV station's news here in Brazil; as compared to the other TV station's news. (Quite pitiful actually) Only the anchors, as opposed to all of the reporters. (Live and taped)

Slave

Yes I am a slave to my work. Well almost. I started working in the studio on Monday.

It is... Different. Not that I was expecting anything but, I guess it was as complicated as I thought.

Quite a lot of work goes into a piece of decent music that the average person would never know/or notice. (I am your average person by the way)

So anyways, not only am I trying to learn what to do in a studio, other than sit down all day and watch someone else work, but I also have to do all my old work at the same time. (I almost find myself wishing that there had more hours in the day. Appalling thought I know!)

P.S. Michael and Taby just left today. Boo Hoo!! We will miss you!!!!

Hope you are happy in your new home.

Busy? Or just plain lazy?

Am not sure which one to blame my lack of posting on. Probably both would be a better compromise, because I have been working. But when it comes down to it, when I have free time I am just to lazy to post. *sigh*

No photos from last week because all the photos came out awful. So I try to keep a decent reputation of my mediocre photography skills. I have vowed to do better though. Heh.

The BAM II (Brazil Activated Meetings II) is sneaking up again. Except I am not going, unfortunately. But I haven't been expecting to go since the beginning of the year. Am trying to bribe people to take photos for me. But from what I've seen it will be a lot more organized than last one. And that is always a good thing. :)
